Click lock, loose lay or glue down: which install method do you need?

The install method is often the first choice on a job. Taiga offers all three:

  • Click lock (Curate, Difference, Ninja Xtra, Aquila): planks lock together edge to edge and float over the subfloor. Learn more in our article on how click vinyl flooring locks together.
  • Loose lay (Aurra, Aurra 2.0): planks lie on the subfloor without a click system.
  • Glue down (Prism Pro, Sierra Work, Sierra Home, Sierra Industrial): planks are glued to the subfloor with a resilient flooring adhesive.

For any method, plan your membranes and underlayments and follow Taiga's installation instructions for your subfloor. For a wider overview, see our guide to the types of vinyl flooring.

Do Taiga vinyl floors have matching moldings?

Yes, for the click lock collections. Taiga vinyl moldings are made to match the floor colour:

  • Curate, Difference, Ninja Xtra and Aquila: stair noses, T-moldings and reducers in every colour.
  • Aurra, Aurra 2.0, Prism Pro and the Sierra collections: no matching moldings are listed. Ask your account manager about transitions for these floors.

Add the moldings to the same order as the floor.

Should you use Taiga planks or tiles?

Most Taiga vinyl comes in planks. Two collections also have tiles:

  • Curate: 9" x 60" planks and a 12" x 24" tile.
  • Difference: 7" x 54" planks and two 12" x 24" tiles.

Both are click lock. This lets you use planks in one area and a tile look in another, with the same install method. Browse all vinyl planks and vinyl tiles for more options.
